I remember when I got married the first time (the first time’s always special), I had the entire town coming to wish us and it was a simple, luxurious wedding. I was reminded of it when Deepika and Ranveer finally got married, in a simple genuine ceremony with hundreds of their closest friends. Anyhow, enough about me. At Deepveer’s wedding, a condom company wished them for their wedding in front of millions of netizens and viewers. I mean was it not already horrific enough to know that everyone is giving you the eye totally dissecting your upcoming wedding night and then you have a husband who’s the face of a condom brand and then the brand shows up to congratulate you. Poor couple, couldn’t escape the condom company even in the picturesque Lake Como. The gold threads on my Benarasi saree would have melted in shame!
So it comes as no surprise when Forbes reported that Ranveer Singh has decided not to endorse the brand any longer. Fingers have been pointed and eyes have been squinted at Ranveer’s marriage and his possible hike in fee, as some of the reasons for this deal to go kaput. Here actresses worry marriage will affect their career and then we have this boy who’s marriage changed his reputation in the condom industry. Keeping my catty remarks aside, I wish Ranveer still endorsed the brand. It was nice to see a mainstream actor ‘do the deed’, instead of two swaying flowers in the breeze. Let a married man be the face of Durex too! But all said and done, who do you think will be gutsy enough to carry the baton of endorsing the best condoms in the country? I have a couple of men in mind but then if I mention them what work will the marketing team at Durex do? Also I request the condom brands to put these actors’ faces on the box. Let the feeling of buying them be pleasurable too. Meow.
